Timeline: Ianto is entering the game from a mid-series 2 standpoint. I say this because from what I know of the game Owen and Tosh are about, but there is established Jack/Ianto something-or-other. I figure going AU mid-series 2 is a good idea.

Background: Ianto Jones joined Torchwood One and worked under the title of 'Junior Researcher' in the London offices until the 'Battle of Canary Wharf'. Beforehand, his position had been rather euphamistically titled, 'Junior Researcher' mostly meaning bringing tea and coffee to the actual researchers and filing things, along with light secretarial duties and a lot of running back and forth between the archives and offices. But since then he has joined Torchwood Three. Using an unusual method of job hunting, he managed to convice Captain Jack Harkness to take him on, doing much the same as he had before, only without the title of Junior Researcher. He currently does the cleaning up in Torchwood Three, from making sure there's loo-roll in the bathroom, and mopping the weevil cells, all the way up to filing and archiving things that the group finds. He still makes the coffee of course. It's a skill. If anyone ever asks, he tends to smile and melt into the background.

Personality: He tries to be fairly stoic, and just about succeeds when he's talking to people who don't really know him all that well. He's the very height of professional. That said, he jokes and snarks as much as (if not more than) everyone else at Torchwood, because he's subtle, and you can't always tell when he's taking the piss, since he's very good at 'deadpan' delivery. Ianto is fiercly loyal and loves his friends as his family. His own family doesn't live in Cardiff, and he doesn't often see them, but his own family only consists of his Dad, Ioan, and his older sister Rhiannon. They both live in Machynlleth, which is a bit difficult for visits, but he does see them occasionally. Very occasionally. At home Ianto is a very different person from at work. He is serious-minded, and can't help but be organised and tidy, but he does like to lie about on the sofa on his (rare) days off, curled in blankets and snoozing in front of a film on the telly.
